Pourquoi y a-t-il des lignes grises sur nos dessins CAO ?
If you’ve used our design tool, you may have noticed fine grey lines around panels, seams, collars and cuffs.
Occasionally someone asks whether those lines are how the garment will actually be produced.
Short answer: no.
Those grey outlines are purely visual guides. They exist to show the construction of the garment on screen - where panels meet, how the placket is structured, how the cuffs are shaped.
We use grey because it shows clearly against almost every colour. On brighter fabrics especially, it allows you to see the structure without distorting your actual design.
In production, stitch lines are matched to the base fabric as standard, so they blend cleanly into the garment. If you want contrast stitching, we can absolutely do that — but it is a deliberate design choice, not a default.
Custom manufacturing relies on clear approvals before production begins. The CAD is a tool to help visualise shape and layout. It is not a literal rendering of thread colour.
Understanding that difference is part of understanding bespoke production.
