How We Guarantee the Right Sizes Before Production Starts

Ensuring the Right Sizes Before Production Starts

When organizing custom clothing for a group, one question comes up almost every time:

“How do we make sure everyone gets the right size?”

It’s a fair concern. Group clothing orders often involve collecting sizes for dozens or even hundreds of people. If mistakes happen at that stage, the entire order can be affected.

At CLIFTON, our process is designed specifically to prevent that risk. Before production begins, every project goes through a structured confirmation process where the design, quantities, and full size breakdown are verified.

Here’s how we make sure the sizes are right before manufacturing starts.

Short Answer

CLIFTON guarantees the correct sizes for custom clothing orders by confirming the full size breakdown before production begins. Sizes are collected either through a private online store where members select their own size, or by an organizer submitting the size breakdown at checkout. The final sizes are then reviewed and approved in an Order Pack before manufacturing starts.

Why Sizing Issues Happen With Custom Clothing Orders

Most sizing problems happen when production begins before sizes are fully confirmed.

Some suppliers move orders into production while sizes are still being collected or adjusted. That can lead to:

  • People guessing their size
  • Late size changes
  • Orders being placed before everyone has submitted their size
  • Confusion around sizing charts

Once manufacturing begins, changes become extremely difficult.

That’s why our process focuses on confirming the entire order before manufacturing begins.

After thousands of group clothing projects, we’ve found that confirming sizes before production is the most reliable way to prevent errors.

How CLIFTON Collects Sizes for Group Orders

There are two main ways sizes are collected for CLIFTON group orders. This process works whether the order is for 10 garments or several hundred.

Option 1: Online Store (Most Popular)

For many teams, companies, and schools, we create a private online store where members place their own orders.

Each person simply:

  • Visits the group store
  • Selects their garment
  • Chooses their size
  • Places their order

This allows every member of the group to select their own size directly rather than relying on a coordinator to collect sizes manually.

This is the most common approach for larger groups because it allows members to choose their own size while the organizer maintains full visibility of the order.

It also significantly reduces the risk of sizing errors and makes the ordering process much easier for organizers.

Option 2: Organizer Submits the Size Breakdown

For some projects, the organizer collects sizes from the group and submits the full size breakdown when placing the order.

This is done during checkout, where the quantities and sizes for each garment are entered as part of the order.

After the order is placed, the size breakdown is included in the Order Pack before production begins. If additional members join late, the organizer can usually add extra garments during this stage before production begins.

Size Guidance Available at Every Step

Every garment we produce includes detailed sizing guidance on the product page.

These pages include clear sizing charts so customers can choose the correct size before ordering.

Sizing guidance varies depending on the garment type. For example:

  • Tees and hoodies include straightforward sizing charts
  • Shirts and jerseys include garment measurements and fit guidance
  • More tailored garments such as blazers include additional guidance and measurement videos

For convenience, the same sizing information is also available during checkout and within the Order Pack, so organizers can easily reference the sizing charts again when confirming the final order details.

Providing sizing guidance at multiple stages helps ensure customers choose the correct size before the order is finalized.

Our Order Pack Approval Process

Before any garments go into production, every CLIFTON project is summarized in an Order Pack.

The Order Pack confirms the key details of the order, including:

  • Final garment design
  • Approved colors and logos
  • Size breakdown for the full order
  • Total quantities

The Order Pack is sent to the customer as a review link, where the full order details can be checked and approved.

Nothing moves into production until the order details are confirmed. This ensures the entire size breakdown is checked and recorded before manufacturing begins.

If anything needs adjusting, customers can update the order directly through the Order Pack review link, which allows changes to quantities or sizes before production begins.

If any help is needed along the way, customers can also reply to the Order Pack email to speak with our Studio team, or contact their account manager if one is assigned to the project.

Order Pack Approval Is Available for Every Project

Most CLIFTON projects go through the full Order Pack approval process, where the design, quantities, and sizes are circulated and confirmed before production begins.

Some experienced customers who have worked with us many times choose to move directly to production once sizes are confirmed. In these cases, the coordinator may approve the order without circulating the full Order Pack.

However, the approval step is always available, and for larger or more complex projects we often recommend using it to ensure every detail is confirmed before manufacturing begins.

What Happens After Sizes Are Confirmed

Once the order details are approved, the project moves into production.

At that point:

  • The size breakdown is locked
  • Manufacturing begins
  • The production schedule starts

Because everything has already been confirmed, production can proceed smoothly without last-minute changes.

The Result: Fewer Mistakes and Smoother Orders

Taking the time to confirm sizes before production dramatically reduces the most common issues that occur with group clothing orders.

Instead of rushing into manufacturing, we ensure everything is confirmed first.

That means:

  • Correct sizes across the entire order
  • Clear expectations for the group
  • A smoother production process
  • No surprises when the garments arrive

For group clothing projects, that preparation makes all the difference.
